 Our Steps

Online Intake Form

First, you’ll complete an intake form that asks about your household, lifestyle, experience with pets, housing situation, schedule, and preferences. This helps us understand what type of animal will be the best match.

Phone Interview

After we review your form, we’ll schedule a phone call to discuss your answers, ask follow-up questions, and answer any questions you have about the pet or our program.

Home Check (as needed)

For some placements we may request a virtual or in-person home check to ensure your environment is safe and suitable for the animal.

Foster-to-Adopt Agreement

If both parties agree to move forward, we send a foster-to-adopt agreement. The standard trial period is 21 days so you and the animal can get to know each other in a home setting.

Support During the Trial

We provide guidance and resources during the foster period — behavior tips, medical follow-up, and check-ins — to help the transition go smoothly.

Finalizing Adoption

If the trial goes well, we complete the adoption paperwork and welcome you as the animal’s permanent family. If it doesn’t work out, we’ll help find a better match or bring the animal back into our care.

Why we follow this process

Ensures the safety and well-being of the animal

Reduces returns by finding the best long-term match

Gives both the family and the pet time to adjust before making a permanent commitment
